What's a Girl's Best Friend?

If you ask a girl what's one thing she can't leave the house without, what's her best friend? She would definitely some type of accessory. It can be anything from a watch, bracelet, necklace, to a purse. Girl's love accessorizing! I interviewed Rebecca Bozeman and Salma Akhtar, who stay in the dorm with me, about their favorite accessories.

The History of UGGs

UGG boots are some of the most fashionable shoes to pull out during the winter time. I know people who can't wait until winter time so they can wear their ugg boots. But where did this boot really come from, how did it get it's name, and how did it become so popular?

UGG boots have been around for decades and were originiated in Australia. The term is actually just another way of saying "sheepskin boots." It has also been said that the term came from the word "ugly." These boots were first worn by pilots in World War I who wore them to keep their feet warm when flying. The shoe became popular in America after a few surfers from California noticed that Austrailian surfers were wearing the boots after they got out of the water to keep their feet warm. The surfers bought the boot back to America and it became a very popular surfer must-have.

The popular brand that you hear about today UGG Australia, is an American owned company. You can find anyone from everyday people to celebrities wearing UGG boots, it's just something about the warmth of the of the boot that makes them so fashionable. So since it is winter go out and buy yourself a pair of UGG boots and you will find yourself in a sea of comfortable warmth.

Fashion is the new Everything!!

Fashion, that's one word that will probably always be around; there is something that will be in and there is something that will be out. I am more of a laid back person, but I have found myself in a sea of fashion. Everyone is trying to find that one thing that will make them noticeable. It could be something weird or it could be something that makes you stand in a good way. Either way it's fashion and it's taking over our lives!!

Love Yourself

I am strong...I am great...I am beautiful...I am wonderful!!! This is what you should say to yourself every morning when you wake up. Sometimes I feel as if the hardest thing for some people to do is to love themselves. You must love yourself first, you must be able to deal with the things that you do not like about yourself first, before you can let anyone else into your life. UM Crimebeat

The University of Mississippi crime rate has gone down in the last couples of months since the panty thief.

Most of the crimes that have been reported in the last month have been vehicular crimes. There were eight vehicle related incidents reported on October 6, 2010. There was also one hit and run reported on October 6. The last crime that was reported this month was a Larceny crime on October 6, 2010 at the JD Williams Library.

The biggest problem the University has is vandalism. There has been a lot of reports to RHA's about people vandalizing the Residence Hall's. The RHA's have a difficult time trying to find the individual or group that vandalizes the property, so they have to charge everyone on the floor that the vandalism was reported.

They hope that people begin coming clean soon or stop vandalizing all together, because it is costing everyone money.
